Oolong Tea Diet
How It Block Fat Absorption
An oolong tea diet is good for the excretion of dietary fat, a 2006 Japanese
study found.
For those who have been to Southeast Asia, you may have come across a
culinary curiosity known as Bat Kut Teh.
Translated as Pork Bone Tea, the breakfast feast consists of a mixture of fat
and lean pork served with a herbal soup, rice and - oolong tea.
It is a daily love affair for some people. But Bat Ket Teh eaters are hardly
known for their bulging bellies. The rumor is that oolong tea plays a part in
the elimination of fat.
Well, it is not a rumor anymore.
A study conducted by the University of Tokushima found that drinking oolong
tea doubles the amount of fat being excreted.
12 young Japanese adults participated in the 17-day study, consisting of 10
days of washout and 7 days of treatment.
During each treatment day, participants consumed 38 grams of fat from potato
chips and drank 750 milliliters of beverage.
They drank either a placebo beverage or oolong tea.
The scientists found that fat excretion was twice as high for those who
consumed tea compared to the placebo.
They concluded that an oolong tea can increase lipid excretion into faeces
when taken together with high fat food.
