Oolong Tea Burn Fat
Study Found Slimming Twist
A study found that green tea and oolong tea burn fat. The curious thing is, the longer you drink, the more evident the effect.
Scientists have found that when you drink tea, you encourage fat burning activities such as
noradrenaline-induced lipolysis of fat tissue. However, they haven’t proved that regular drinkers have less fat on their bodies.
Researchers in National Cheng Kung University Hospital, Taiwan, have conducted one of the first large scale
population study of its kind to find out if long term tea drinkers have less body fat.
1,103 adults were questioned, on average, for about 10 years. They were not dieting or following any weight control advice. Tea consumption
and other lifestyle characteristics were obtained using structured
questionnaires.
Regular tea drinkers made up 40% of the participants. They drank 430
milliliters of either green tea or oolong tea, equivalent to two 8-ounce cups a
day.
The researchers found that the 140 regular tea drinkers for more than 10
years had 20% body fat. This is significantly lower than the non tea drinkers with 25% body fat.
They concluded that long term drinking of green tea or oolong tea may help
burn fat.
The scientists adjust for distorting factors such as age, body-mass-index,
physical activity, flavored food intake, and other major lifestyle factors in
their study.
