Which hoodia slimming tea and diet pill products contain P57, the real hoodia active ingredient? This article reviews three top selling brands: Flora, Desert Burn and Hoodoba.

If you are looking for hoodia products to help with weight loss, you need to be careful who you trust with your money.

The Internet is full of purveyors of hoodia slimming tea and tincture, but how many of them are actually effective? Very few. To be effective, you need real hoodia gordonii extract at the right concentration.

Experts usually recommend a dose of at least 3,000 milligrams per day, although some people may need less. With these criteria in mind, let's take a look at some popular hoodia supplements:

Hoodia Slimming Tea Review #1:
Flora Bija Hoodia Slimming Tea

Flora - Bija Hoodia Slimming Tea contains green tea, “hoodia,” oatstraw, magnolia bark, garcinia cambogia, and bitter orange. So, other than the hoodia, we have a mix of laxative and stimulant herbs.

The green tea is the only herb in the mix that is proven safe and effective for weight loss. Bitter orange contains an ephedra-like chemical, so if you have heart problems you should not drink this tea.

As far as the “hoodia” goes, it may or may not be the real thing. Note that Flora has labeled this product "hoodia tea", not hoodia gordonii tea.

Also, they don't have a CITES certificate or product test results anywhere on their website.

However, even if this tea really contains hoodia gordonii, it probably wouldn't have enough of the active ingredient to make you lose weight. That being said, several reviewers on Flora's website gave it good reviews.

Hoodia Diet Pills Review #2:
Desert Burn ZA-750

Desert Burn is part of the Alkemy Pharmaceuticals testing program. They have test results for all of their products posted on the website, and you can see test results by entering in the lot number of your product. You can also view CITES certificates and US Import Permits.

One capsule contains 750 milligrams of Hoodia gordonii powder. It is recommended that you take 1 or 2 capsules about 1 hour before meal time, and repeat as needed. One bottle contains 60 capsules.

They also offer a liquid hoodia spray. However, the spray is pricier and less potent. Each spray bottle contains 29.6 250 milligram servings, or about 7,400 milligrams of hoodia.

Since the recommended dosage is around 3000 milligrams per day, you would use up the spray in just a few days if you were using it exclusively. The spray might be great as a companion product to the tea or the capsules, but it seems like a poor value for a standalone product.

Hoodia Liquid Review #3:

Hoodoba is one of the few hoodia products on the market that may contain the real thing. With this Hoodia liquid, you can add drops into your favorite beverage to drink like a tea.

If you visit their website, you can see their CITES certificate and you can check the laboratory results for their products using the lot number on your bottle.

As far as potency, one serving provides 500 milligrams of hoodia. However, nowhere on their website does it say how many servings are in a bottle, which would be helpful to know given the cost of a single bottle.

With that caveat in mind, this product seems to be a good buy: authentic, potent, and many reviewers reported successful experiences with it.

It doesn't seem to work for everyone, however. A minority of reviewers reported having absolutely no luck with it, and some simply couldn't get past the taste.
