Green Tea 2009 Real Time Notification Alert

by Julian
(Horsham)

Want to know when the 2009 green tea is ready for sale?

While HQ's family has previously expected this year Dragon Well tea to start sprouting on 10 March, things have taken longer.

As at today - 10 March - the only West Lake Dragon Well tea on sale is the Longjing 43 variety, a new cultivar widely cultivated in Meijiawu and Longjing villages.

This new cultivar has one special quality - it sprouts on average 3-7 days earlier than the traditional Dragon Well plants. This helps the farmers to sell at a higher price.

Here at Amazing Green Tea, however, we tend to avoid this Longjing as it has been found to be of lower quality. We rather stick with the traditional varieties grown in Lion Peak Mountain in HQ's tea gardens.

So, barring no accident again - the season should begin in earnest later next week - perhaps at around 15 March.

For the month of March, we expect to start launching Tribute Dragon Well tea (now includes the B grade), an authentic Biluochun green tea and of course, the Silver Needle white tea that did quite well last year.

More green teas will follow in April, follow by oolong teas and red teas in May and June.

Timing is uncertain, so if you want real time notification, please leave a comment at the end of this article. Leaving your email behind will do the job.

I look forward to sharing with you an exciting 2009 season!

Thank you!

Perhaps another week?
by: Julian

Latest update from HQ, who just returned from Hangzhou today.

Well, guess what?

It has been raining for a week there, with none of the Tribute tea gardens in Weng and Long villages having any crop to harvest. The tea shoots have barely sprouted - and we may have another week to wait...

Despite this, travel to West Lake and you will find teas to buy. Needless to say, it is typical tourist traps to catch the novice unaware - counterfeit Tribute Longjing on sale.

So, the bottom line is more waiting to do... I will report back once the harvesting starts.

For Dragon Well tea, King grade will come first, follow by Jipin, AAA, A then B grade.

Same story for Biluochun green tea - harvesting hasn't yet started.

And yes, I do ship to the UK.

Dragon Well Tea King and Jipin are ready!
by: Julian

Okay, good news here ... the harvest has finally started yesterday (19th March) for the Tribute Dragon Well tea!

:-)

King grade has now been fully harvested and is ready for shipping.

Jipin grade too has started harvesting on the 19th, will be ongoing for 20th and 21th, and is also now ready for shipping.

AAA grade will probably start on 22th, and is now ready for ordering (just be prepared to wait a little longer for us to ship your order as the tea will only be harvested two days later...)

This is the best time to order, not only for the up to 30 percent discount, but also by ordering now you are almost guaranteed to obtain the highest quality tea, at the freshest and most aromatic...

Coming next will (probably) be an authentic Biluochun tea, Silver Needle tea and the Dragon Well tea A grade...

Here is the link to the Tribute Dragon Well tea page...

Further Update
by: Julian

A few words on Dragon Well tea and Biluochun tea...

First on Tribute Dragon Well tea.

The A grade harvest, which is supposed to start tomorrow, has been postponed for a couple days due to the weather suddening turning cold.

What this means is that while the tea buds and leaves tend to get bigger and more matured towards the latter season, the cold weather makes the tea more tender and smaller at this time of the year.

Consequently, HQ's tea gardens would continue to harvest the AA grade for two more days. The Tribute Dragon Well A grade will be launched this Saturday 4 April.

Now Biluochun tea next ...

The Zhejiang Biluochun tea harvest actually took place around 18 March, and is now ready for order and shipping.

Biluochun Tea (Piluochun)

(I will be changing the page info so that it says 2009 harvest rather than 2008 tonight).

The April newsletter will be distributed this weekend.

Thanks for your patience!
